Abstract

The essay reconstructs the figure and scholarly activity of Luisa Marcucci (1917–1962), highlighting her central role in the postwar period at the Uffizi’s Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe and, later, at the Galleria dell’Accademia. Through the analysis of her unpublished papers, cataloguing work, and curated exhibitions, the study outlines the profile of a scholar distinguished by rigorous methodology and sharp critical insight, crucial to the rediscovery and enhancement of sixteenth-century Florentine drawing. Particular attention is devoted to her studies on Mannerism and on artists such as Pontormo, Macchietti e Cavalori, as well as to her intellectual exchange with figures including Paola Barocchi and Luisa Becherucci. Marcucci’s contribution emerges as a true civic mission of preservation and scholarship, shaped within the broader context of postwar cultural reconstruction.
